United Way of Snohomish County Accepting Grant Applications for Financial Education Programs

April 20, 2011

United Way of Snohomish County is accepting grant applications to fund financial education and counseling programs in Snohomish County that serve low- or moderate-income individuals and families. Grant funds may be used to support classroom instruction, one-on-one financial counseling, or a combination of classroom and individualized support. Applications must be received at the United Way office by 5 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011. Apply now.

Example topics could include money management, savings, budgeting, avoiding fraud, credit management, or other financial topics relevant to low- and moderate-income families. To be eligible for funding, grant applicants must use a financial education curriculum, which they are asked to describe in their grant application. Funds may be used to support or expand an existing financial education program or to develop a new financial education offering. Eligible programs will need to serve adults, families and older (high school age) youth.

The maximum award for a grant is $5,000. Organizations currently receiving United Way multi-year program grants are eligible for funding, as long as the program is clearly distinct from any currently funded program.

More information about this grant opportunity will be available at information sessions at the United Way offices (3120 McDougall Ave., Everett, Wash.). Attendance at an information session is strongly encouraged but not required.

  • Wednesday, April 27, 10-11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 3, 3-4 p.m.

If you are interested in attending an information session, please RSVP to 425.374.5506.
