Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast Honors Top Volunteers
July 14, 2006
Everett—Ordinary people do extraordinary work for free everyday in Snohomish County. They’re called volunteers. In fact, in Snohomish County, 45 percent of adults volunteer, giving an average of 199 hours
per year.
United Way’s 10th annual Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast
celebrates that extraordinary spirit by recognizing five of the community’s most remarkable volunteers on Thursday, September 7 at 7:30 am at
the Everett Events Center.
In addition to recognizing outstanding volunteers, the breakfast will serve as the kick-off for United Way’s Day of Caring, September 15.
This year’s Spirit Breakfast keynote speaker is Erin Gruwell, an educator from Long Beach, California, whose work with at-risk kids is the subject of the upcoming movie “The Freedom Writers” starring Hilary Swank. Gruwell is a highly motivational speaker who talks about the power of every individual to become a catalyst for change.
The Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast is open to the public, however seating is limited and advance reservations are required. Cost is $25. Proceeds will help support United Way’s work on behalf of children and youth. Please call 425.921.3441 for information and reservations.
