United Way is working in innovative ways to bring outside resources to Snohomish County. Examples include foundation grants and state and federal money for specific initiatives, such as United Way’s Success By 6® initiative for early childhood development, Individual Development Accounts, a matched savings and asset-building initiative for low-income families, the 2-1-1 call line for human service agencies, and others. Your donation to United Way—instead of to a designated agency—makes a powerful difference in our ability to apply for and receive these grants, which often require that we provide a “matched” amount. This ability to “grow” your donation means more money is available to invest in what matters to us all—healthy kids, strong families and a vibrant community.

In-Kind Income - 0.3%

United Way's work is supported by generous non-cash contributions too, such as free advertising space or time for public service announcements, software, or other in-kind gifts that further the community impact mission.

Miscellaneous - 2.2%

Income from rent, fees and interest on investments.

Other Contributions - 3.3%

Gifts to our endowment, planned giving and restricted contributions.

The majority of United Way’s revenue comes from donors who contribute through the annual United Way Community Caring Campaign. Last year, the campaign raised $9.86 million.

Most donors are individuals who give through the place where they work.

  • Gifts from Boeing employees (through ECF) account for 37% of total campaign donations.
  • All other employees account for 28%.
  • Corporate gifts account for just over 16%.
  • “Gifts from out of county” are those made by donors who work in another county but designate their gifts to Snohomish County, usually because they live here.
  • Individuals who give directly to United Way are 5% of the total.
  • The 10% from “Government” is from federal, state, county and utility company (PUD) employee-giving campaigns run concurrently with the annual United Way campaign. United Way helps plan and coordinate these fund-raising efforts and distributes the gifts.
