What's New September 2002 This page has been updated to share the most recent information compiled from the Snohomish County Counts 2001 assessment process. On June 14, 2002, approximately 60 community leaders gathered to consider the findings of Snohomish County Counts, the 2000 U.S. Census, and other recent more focused Snohomish County community assessments. The group included elected officials as well as leaders from both U.S. senators' offices, local business, housing organizations, human services, criminal justice, county government, Naval Station Everett, and United Way. They were asked to summarize key community assets, challenges and opportunities, and a vision for an improved community in 2005. Their observations are summarized in the document titled "Community Leaders' Observations." As a next step from their discussion, the group members aligned themselves with interest areas for addressing the challenges and opportunities identified. The group will reconvene in January 2003 to discuss changes in the areas identified. The group saw four PowerPoint presentations that day which laid the foundation
for their discussions.
