Chuck a puck to raise bucks |
 |
United Way teamed up with the Everett Silvertips to
sell chuck-a-pucks during three games in October.
With every puck purchased, fans got a chance to
win big prizes. But the big winner was United Way,
with $1 per puck going to fund services for kids and
families in Snohomish County. The ‘Tips also donated
proceeds from an online auction that included a
2005-06 Silvertips bobblehead set and an
autographed Peter Mueller stick. Thanks to all those
volunteers who sold pucks! Altogether, $2,554 was
raised!

Results Matter |

“She’s my life-saver,” Edith says about Kris. Kris
volunteers by driving elderly and disabled people to
the doctor and the food bank. “I see in their
eyes the difference it makes,” she says. United Way
pays for her gas. But no one can pay for the extras
she gives, like the hot meals and the hugs. Edith, 86,
is only one of the 12,000 elderly and disabled people
who are living safer, more independent lives thanks
to donations to United Way’s Local Community Fund.
