Thank you for your support of United Way. This newsletter provides the latest information about how United Way and our partners are making a difference in the lives of kids, families and communities in Snohomish County. Thanks to you, United Way is changing the way. From quick fixes to real, lasting change. That's what matters.™
1014 volunteers came out for the 15th annual Days of Caring on September 28 and 29. This was the first two-day event.
Some great remarks overheard on Days of
Caring:
And our favorite: "What I did was easy--I
just had to die." Joyce also echoed many volunteers and agencies who said they like the Saturday option because it's not always easy to get off on a weekday. We'd also like to especially thank the City of Marysville Parks Department and Snohomish County Parks and Recreation for their co-sponsorship and help on Born Learning trails that were built in Jennings and Willis Tucker parks. Born Learning trails offer a series of outdoor games for adults and children to explore together to build literacy and school readiness.
United Way's Young Leaders are a group of young professionals interested in philanthropy, volunteering and fun networking. They had a great time together on Days of Caring. Interested? Call or email Healther Fritts at 425.374.5524 or heather.fritts@uwsc.org.

Based on the work of Dr. Ruby Payne This one-day training will provide a broad overview of key concepts relating to bridges out of poverty. Participants create a mental model of poverty, review current research on poverty, examine a theory of change, and analyze poverty through the prism of the hidden rules of class, resources, family structure, and language.
