United Way believes in maximizing the well-being of residents by promoting the strengths of neighborhoods, support systems, civic involvement, volunteerism, and diversity.
The Community Matters Vision Council is working to strengthen community support systems to create a stronger, more inclusive environment. Strategies are designed to improve the way people get the support they need , connect with one another and get involved. United Way’s Volunteer Center is a key resource for volunteer involvement in our community.
Together, the Community Matters Vision Council helped 60,930 people of all ages through grants to programs.
They live in Edmonds, Everett, Stanwood, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Lake Stevens and Darrington—every community and neighborhood.
They live next door.
United Way invested $1.92 million over three years to decrease isolation, increase access to community resources, and provide transportation choices.
But that’s only one way United Way is using your contributions to make a lasting improvement in our community.
In 2011, twelve hundred sets of helping hands volunteered 6,500 hours benefiting 68 Snohomish County nonprofits' projects at United Way’s Days of Caring—the largest, two-day volunteer event in the county. Their volunteer impact was valued at $138,000!
Our online database is the best match-maker for those wanting to get involved. Last year, United Way referred 3,630 people to volunteer opportunities.
