Campaign Sweepstakes Official Rules


1. NO PURCHASE OR DONATION NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE OR DONATION WILL NOT INCREASE CHANCES OF WINNING.
United Way of Snohomish “TAKING CARE OF BASICS” Campaign Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) begins on July 8, 2010 and ends on February 15, 2011 (“Promotional Period”). Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries timely received.

2. ELIGIBILITY: Open and offered only to persons living in Washington State, 18 years of age or older when Drawing begins. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Administrator and Sponsors whose decisions are final and binding.

Employees of the United Way of Snohomish County (“Administrator”), members of their Board of Directors, and the participating Sponsors: Union Bank, Campbell's StockPot and Puget Sound Energy (“Sponsors”) (and dependents as defined by the Internal Revenue Service and immediate family members) are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited.

Limitations: Limit one (1) entry per person. Participants who attempt to enter multiple times will be disqualified. The Sponsors, their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributions, participating retails and advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives (collective, “Released Parties”) are not responsible for illegible, lost, late, damaged, incomplete, misdirected, undeliverable, mutilated, destroyed, stolen, or postage due mail-in or official entries, or for the incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by equipment, programming used in this Sweepstakes, printing, human processing or other error, or otherwise. All entries submitted become property of the Sponsors, and will not be returned.
 
3. HOW TO ENTER: Enter one of three ways: (1) complete an official United Way entry form, received with your pledge card from your employer or from United Way, when you make a first time donation to United Way organization of $52.00 or more, or increase your previous year’s donation by $52.00 or more during the Promotional Period; or (2) download an official entry form from the United Way of Snohomish County website: www.uwsc.org and complete the form with the following information: your complete name, home address, city, state, zip code, date of birth, daytime telephone number, and email address (optional); or (3) hand print your complete name, home address, city, state, zip code, date of birth, daytime telephone number, and email address (optional) on a 3” x 5” card.  Entry forms received from an employer should be returned to that employer, all other entries should be mailed to: United Way Sweepstakes, c/o United Way of Snohomish County, 3120 McDougall Ave, Suite 200, Everett, WA  98201.  Entries must be received at United Way of Snohomish County at the address stated above by 5:00 pm, February 15, 2011.

Entries are null and void and will be rejected if not submitted in accordance with these rules and through authorized, legitimate channels or if any part of an entry is counterfeited, illegible, mutilated or tempered with in any way, or if they contain or reflect printing, typographical, mechanical, or other errors.

4. DRAWING: A random drawing of twelve (12) names will be conducted on or about February 16, 2011, from among all eligible entries timely received by the Sponsors, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. The first ten (10) names drawn will be considered Finalists and the remaining two (2) names will be considered First Alternate and Second Alternate, respectively. All names drawn will be notified by telephone, mail and/or email depending on the information provided upon entry. The ten (10) Finalists will be invited to attend the United Way of Snohomish County Community Caring Celebration on or about March 12th, 2011. Finalists must attend the event or send a representative. If a Finalist or Representative cannot attend, the Alternates will be invited in the order drawn: First Alternate followed by Second Alternate. One winner will be selected by drawing at this March event for each of the three prizes.

5. PRIZES/ODDS: 1) One (1) First Prize: One year of housing support, paid out at the rate of $1,000 per month for 12 months, from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 for a total value of $12,000. These monthly payments will be made by United Way of Snohomish County directly to the winner’s mortgage company or owner of one’s rental unit. This prize may be transferred by the winner. The winner may also opt for a $6,000 cash payout in lieu of mortgage or rental payments. Odds of winning depends on the number of eligible entries timely received. 2) One (1) Second Prize: One year of food support, paid out in 12 debit cards from the grocery chain of the winner’s choice, which will be valued at $217.00 each. These 12 cards will be distributed monthly during the first week of each month for a total value of $2,604.00. Once the card in the hands of the recipient, it is his/her responsibility. If lost or damaged, the card will not be replaced by United Way of Snohomish County. Additionally, the winner will receive the remaining $2,596 in the form of Stockpot soups, which will be delivered to the winner on a monthly basis by Stockpot employees. This prize may be transferred by the winner.  Odds of winning depends on the number of eligible entries timely received. 3) One (1) Third Prize: One year of gasoline support. The value of this third prize is $1,820 ($35 per week x 52 weeks). The winner will receive 12  gas station debit cards, 11 of which will be valued at $151 each, and one valued at $159. These will be from the gas station of the winner’s choosing and two cards will be delivered to the winner by United Way employees on an every other month basis starting April  2011. Once the card in the hands of the recipient, it is his/her responsibility. If lost or damaged, the card will not be replaced by United Way of Snohomish County. This prize may be transferred by the winner. Odds of winning depends on the number of eligible entries timely received.

Only the stated prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, printing or any other reasons cause more than the stated number or prizes set forth in these Official Rules to be claimed, the Sponsors reserve the right to award only the stated prize.

Winners are solely responsible for all applicable taxes, (including, but not limited to, federal income taxes). In addition the winner will be required to sign and return a Release of Liability and where lawful a Publicity Release within seven (7) days of Notification. In the event of non-compliance with these requirements the gift may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected by random drawing among all remaining eligible finalists timely received by Sponsors.

Any other prize details will be at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Expenses not stated in these Official Rules are solely the responsibility of the winners. The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prize with a prize of equal or greater value should the advertised prize become unavailable. Prize will not be fulfilled outside the United States or where the Sweepstakes is void. Should a prize be won by a minor in his/her jurisdiction of primary residence, such prize must be accepted on the minor’s behalf by the minor’s parent or legal guardian. In addition, all affidavits, releases and undertakings to be signed by the winner as set forth in these Official Rules must be executed and undertaken by the parent /legal guardian of the minor, both on such parent/legal guardian’s behalf and on behalf of the minor, or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternated winner.

6. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: Participants agree (a) to abide by these Official Rules and all decisions of the Administrator, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to these Sweepstakes; (b) that Released Parties will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by the winner against any liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind to persons, including death, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in this Drawing or any Drawing related activity; or for any typographical or other error in the printing offering or announcement of any prize via entry forms, posters or any other media; (c) except where legally prohibited, to grant (and agree to confirm that grant in writing) permission for the Administrator and Sponsors and those acting under their authority to use his/her name, photograph, voice and/or likeness, for advertising, trade and/or publicity purposes without additional compensation in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, without notice review or approval; (d) that the Administrator may collect the personal information submitted by participant, and use the information pursuant to the Administrator’s privacy policy’s available on the United Way of Snohomish County website www.uwsc.org; (e) that winner (and winner’s parent/legal guardian, where applicable) may be required to complete, sign, and return a Liability Release and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within 7 days from the date of receipt of such documents, and that if documents are not returned on a timely basis, or if any prize notification or prize is returned as non-deliverable on account of inaccurate or incomplete entry information or otherwise, or if winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, such prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner; (f) if no alternate winner can be selected for the prize, for any reason, by March 30, 2011 the prize will be forfeited in its entirety and will not be awarded if, in their sole discretion, the Administrator determine that such person is attempting to undermine, tamper with, or abuse any aspect of the Sweepstakes, by cheating, deception or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrant or the Sponsors’ representatives and the Sponsors reserve the right to terminate such Participant’s eligibility. ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE DRAWING MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

Any dispute will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of United Way of Snohomish County. Their decision and resolution will be final.

7. REMOVAL FROM MAILING LIST: Any person wishing to be removed from lists for all future mailings, including drawings, from the Administrator may send a letter stating his or her desire to be so removed, with Drawing name to United Way of Snohomish County, 3120 McDougall Ave., Suite 200, Everett, WA 98201.

8. WINNERS LIST/OFFICIAL RULES REQUST: For the name of the winners, available after March 31, 2011, or a copy of these Official Rules, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope in a separate, first class stamped envelope to United Way of Snohomish County as follows: United Way Sweepstakes, Winners List or Official Rules Request (designate which). Requests for Official Rules must be received by April 30, 2011 and requests for winners’ list must be received by April 30, 2011.
