EVERETT, WA— United Way of Snohomish County (UWSC) announced today the successful completion of its 2026–2029 Strategic Plan—a forward-looking roadmap that reaffirms the organization’s commitment to advancing equity, strengthening working families, and building long-term community stability.
Developed through a six-month collaborative process involving staff, board members, program partners, and community stakeholders, the plan establishes a clear vision for United Way’s next chapter: to serve and empower ALICE households—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed—to achieve stability and thrive.
“This plan represents more than a new set of goals—it’s a recommitment to the people who form the backbone of Snohomish County’s economy and community life,” said Charlotte Murry, Chair of the UWSC Board of Directors. “Together, we are aligning strategy, resources, and relationships to build a secure and sustainable future.”
A Vision for the Future
The three-year plan defines United Way’s mission as uniting people, resources, and strategy to strengthen economic opportunity and improve quality of life across Snohomish County. Its three primary goals outline how that mission will come to life:
- Support ALICE households to stabilize and thrive through intentional programming that expands youth opportunity, promotes financial security, and advances advocacy efforts to remove systemic barriers.
- Re-engage community partners and strengthen local presence by deepening collaboration, sharing data and stories that highlight ALICE realities, and developing innovative ways to work together for collective impact.
- Increase organizational capacity and sustainability through diversified funding, active Board engagement, and the addition of key staff to support program growth and community engagement.
“This plan is a living framework,” added Murry. “It’s designed to build the strength and external partnerships that allows our organization to respond to changing community needs and make long-term impacts possible.”
A Renewed Commitment to Snohomish County
The new strategic plan reinforces United Way’s role not as a pass-through funding agency, but as a catalyst for systemic change—one that unites data, advocacy, and partnership to strengthen the systems families rely on most.
By addressing barriers to economic mobility and investing in sustainable solutions, United Way aims to ensure every household has the security, resources, and voice to help shape a thriving future for Snohomish County.
“This plan gives us the clarity and confidence to move forward with purpose,” Murry said. “Together with our partners, donors, and volunteers, we’re building the foundation for long-term stability and opportunity for all.”
