United Way of Snohomish County announces Interim President & Chief Executive Office, Maya Hemachandra
United Way of Snohomish County would like to announce Maya Hemachandra, MPA, CFRE as our Interim President & Chief Executive Officer. Craig Chambers is no longer with the organization and we wish him well with future endeavors.
Maya has made it her life’s work to create champions for social change. She started her fundraising career with United Way of Snohomish County nearly two decades ago and served the organization in a variety of positions between 2005 and 2016, including Director of Investor Relations and Vice President of Engagement, before going on to leadership roles with Solid Ground and Treehouse. In total, Maya has dedicated nearly 20 years to the Puget Sound region, raising millions of dollars and thousands of hours of volunteer support to address poverty, homelessness, and racial injustice.
Maya shares her experience and passion with future community leaders through the University of Washington’s Certificate in Fundraising Management program and as a volunteer mentor through Women of Color in Philanthropy. She holds an MPA from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance and a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation.
Her knowledge of and history with this organization will help us during this transitional period and United Way staff, as well as our Board of Directors, are looking forward to her leadership. We are excited to have her with us.
