Disaster Relief Grant Program
United Way of Snohomish County works alongside local partners, emergency responders, and donors to help communities stabilize, recover, and rebuild following natural or man-made disasters.
In 20206, Disaster Relief grants will provide short-term financial support to nonprofit organizations delivering immediate and recovery-focused services to residents of Snohomish County affected by the historic flooding and severe weather events of December 2025 and resulting state of emergency
Grants of $2,500 to $5,000 are available to nonprofit organizations supporting individuals and families impacted by recent disasters in Snohomish County.
Application Open: January 28 - June 1, 2026
Review Period: Approximately 1–2 weeks
Organizations not selected for funding will receive written notification.
Please note: United Way of Snohomish County does not provide grants to individuals. All applications and assistance must be administered through an eligible nonprofit organization. See Eligibility Requirements below.
Program Criteria & Eligibility Requirements
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Serve residents impacted by the disaster
- Provide services related to basic needs, housing stability,
or recovery support - Organizations must be able to document client eligibility
and disaster impact.
Client Eligibility Requirements
Organizations must be serving individuals who:
- Lived in the disaster-affected area at the time of the event
- Experienced verified disaster impact, such as:
- Home damage or destruction
- Extended utility outages
- Mandatory evacuation or unsafe living conditions
- Demonstrate financial need, including loss of income
or low household income
Priority Populations
Funding will prioritize organizations serving:
- Seniors (age 65+)
- People with disabilities or serious health conditions
- Low-income individuals and families
- Families with young children
- Individuals with limited or no insurance coverage
Information Required to Apply
Applicants should be prepared to provide:
- Organization name and contact information
- Case manager name, phone number, and email
Allowable Use of Funds
Grant funds must be used exclusively for approved disaster-related needs:
- Emergency housing and repairs
- Temporary shelter or rental assistance
- Food, water, and basic household needs
- Utility assistance and medical essentials
- Counseling, legal services, and job support
- Direct financial assistance administered by the organization
Reporting Requirements
Organizations receiving funding will be required to submit brief follow-up reporting that includes:
- Description of services provided
- Outcomes achieved
- Number of individuals or households served
- Demographic information
- Financial summary of fund usage
- Challenges or lessons learned
Additional reporting details will be included in the grant agreement.
